Overview
Using datasets on the map interface allows you to visualize the data on the map, obtain interesting views, recognize patterns, and identify the specific data points you are looking for.
To use datasets on the map interface, make sure you’ve followed the steps below:
1. Ensure Dataset Is Indexed
The first step to using datasets on the map interface is to ensure they are properly indexed and available for use on Datascape. Refer to these data management guides to learn more.
2. Enable Map Template Access
Once your dataset has been indexed and is available for use, you need to decide which map templates will have access to these datasets. You can enable dataset access for map templates from either the dataset management area or the map templates area.
From Dataset Management
From the dataset management area, you can determine which map templates will have access to the dataset.
From Map Template
From the map templates area, you can determine which datasets the map templates have access to, either when creating the map template or when managing it.
Creating a map template
When creating a map template for the first time, you can select the datasets you want to enable for that template.
Managing a map template
When managing a map template, you can select the datasets you want to enable for that template.
3. Ensure Compute Is On
To visualize the dataset on the map, you need to enable its access to your compute resources. Learn more about compute management here.
4. Map Interface Use
Once all the previous steps are completed, you can start using the datasets on the map interface panel by toggling on the dataset.
NOTE
Compute resource charges accrue when a dataset is actively used on the map interface.
Style Datasets
You can style a datasets design once you’re in the map interface portal. For a detailed walkthrough on styling a dataset, please refer to this guide.
